⑤ RAGU® V 1.0 Operation Screen Explanation

2023.05.15

This article explains the operation screens of the RAGU® software.

●Main GUI
The main screen has the following 4 areas, indicated by the red rectangles (01) to (04) in the screen image.

 (01) ON Switch: Enables access to RAGU
 (02) DUT Control Settings: Input control signals of DUT (motor driver LSI)
 (03) Graph/Plot Area: Graphs and measured values
 (04) Oscilloscope Settings: Performs settings for the oscilloscope

Below are described the settings for each of the 3 areas other than the ON switch.

●DUT Control Settings
Aside from the switch ON display, the DUT control area has 4 settings: “Level”, “Computation”, “Clock output”, and “Pin voltage levels”. The table below shows settings for each of these.

(01) Operating Mode Switch that enables access to RAGU
(02) Levels (a) Voltage level
  • ・Values can be changed by either the sliders or text boxes.
  • ・To move from one text box to another, use the Enter key.
  • ・The sliders can be configured using the MAX, STEP and MIN text boxes.
(b) Frequency level
  • ・Values can be changed by either the sliders or text boxes.
  • ・The CLK slider can be configured using the MAX, STEP and MIN text boxes.
(03) Computation
  • ・The calculated Io (output current) value is displayed.
(04) CLK Output
  • ・Use the Start button to enable or disable the clock output.
  • ・Continuous mode: The clock output continues until the Stop button is clicked.
  • ・Manual mode: The specified number of clock cycles are generated.
(05) Pin voltage level
  • ・Set the voltage levels of the selected pins.

●Graph/Plot Area and Oscilloscope Settings
The graph/plot area and the oscilloscope settings area are related, and so these are explained together. Broadly stated, there are settings for the “graph/plot area”, for the “channel settings”, and for “sampling evaluation”. For details of each of these, please refer to the table below the graphic image.

(01) Graph/plot area (a) Time-delta measurement
  • ・Use the right double click to turn ON/OFF, use the right single click to move the blue cursor.
  • ・Time is measured between the red (left click) and blue (right click) cursors.
(b) Time-value display
  • ・Use the left double click to turn ON/OFF, use the left single click to move the cursor.
(C) Horizontal scroll
  • ・Use the left and right arrow buttons to scroll through the waveform.
(02) Channel settings (a) On/Off
  • ・Show/hide the specified channel.
(b) Source
  • ・Select measurement source (output voltage/output current/ICC (circuit current)).
(c) Output
  • ・Channel select (A/B).
(d) Value/Div
  • ・Display the current value (I/Div) or voltage level (V/Div) of each channel.
(e) Range
  • ・Change the Value/Div settings.
(f) Setup
  • ・Open the Channel Settings window.
(g) Sec/Div
  • ・Control the TIME/Div setting of the display (in seconds).
(h) Sampling rate
  • ・Control the sampling frequency of the waveform scope.
(03) Sampling evaluation (a) Trigger
  • ・Turn on/off triggering.
(b) Channel
  • ・Select channel.
(c) Current
  • ・Change triggering current level.
(d) Voltage
  • ・Change triggering voltage level.
(e) Run/Stop
  • ・Enable/disable sampling.
  • ・Continuously read the 4 channels and plot them in chart.
  • ・Only the currently available data in the RAM (8k samples) will be displayed at any time.
(f) Save
  • ・Export graph as image (jpg.).
Note: Only one slider is active at any time. The active slider will depend on the input type (voltage/current) of the currently selected channel.

●Dynamic Window (Refer to “④ Explanation of RAG U V1.0 Functions”)
The dynamic window is a “DUT control setting”. It is selected by choosing “View → Dynamic Window Menu Item”.

  • ・The Dynamic Settings window allows the user to preprogram a sequence of configurations to the RAGU main board (RAGU-main1-EVK-001).
  • ・The Run Cycle determines the repeat count for the whole sequence.
  • ・The Repeat Delay sets the time between each cycle.
  • ・Click “Start” to begin the specified sequence.

●Temperature Monitor (Refer to “④ Explanation of RAG U V1.0 Functions”)
The Temperature Monitor is also a “DUT control setting”. It is selected by choosing “View → Tj Monitor Menu Item”.

  • ・The Temperature Monitor window allows the user to preprogram a sequence of configurations in order to monitor the temperature at each setting.
  • ・At the end of the sequence, the logged temperature data is plotted into a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet.
  • ・Click “Start” to begin temperature monitoring.
  • ・Click “Save Chart” to plot the existing temperature log in a spreadsheet.

●Calibrate
The calibrate function is found under the Help Menu. Ensure that all oscilloscope functions are turned off before calibrating the RAGU main board (RAGU-main1-EVK-001) or the RAGU option board (RAGU-op1-EVK-001). Calibrating the boards while using the oscilloscope may result in an incorrect calibration.
