Important Points in the Design of a Power Supply Using a Linear Regulator

2025.01.28

Linear regulators are easy to design, low cost, and simple and compact solutions for appropriate use of power in various applications. Linear regulators are also called LDOs (Low Dropout regulators) or 3-terminal regulators, and are classified into a number of types according to the circuit configuration. In this article, important points when designing a power supply using a linear regulator IC with a ground (GND) pin are explained. There are also floating type linear regulators, but for more information on this type, refer to the article “Important Points in the Design of a Power Supply Using a Floating Type Linear Regulator” from a similar perspective.
